Located on a quite street in Palo Alto, California, Luminosa was designed to honor the legacy of the 20th century family home of the owner and create a haven for a family of the 21st century. Passed from the parents of the homeowner to their child, this interior lot presented unique challenges of Floor Area Ratio (FAR), Daylight Plane and the needs of a young growing family all converging to govern the project’s design.
A costal contemporary façade mixes strong plaster forms with warm wood accents to create a welcoming modern haven for this family. With four bedrooms, four and a half baths, a full basement and two auxiliary dwelling units, all situated on a quarter acre lot in just over 3,700 square feet, the home epitomizes our concept of Better not Bigger. Other features include a 250 square foot atrium that forms the heart of the home and provides incredible natural light throughout the home, a compact, hardworking kitchen, dining and great room, and incredible indoor/outdoor connections.
